Lea Michele Controversy: Why Glee Stars Were “Scared” to Talk About Lea Michele, as Explained by Heather Morris

Lea Michele Controversy: Last year, Lea Michele faced backlash for alleged mean-spirited conduct on the set of Glee, for which she ultimately apologized. Heather Morris, her former co-star, is now speaking out about why she believes she and other victims waited so long to come out with their claims, which surfaced over a year ago.

“It’s almost as if we could have spoken up and told the Fox executives how we felt about the issue, but nobody did. So we now live in a culture where it is normal to go do stuff like that, while I believe many people were terrified “Morris revealed this on the podcast Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino on Wednesday, May 26. She portrayed Brittany on all six seasons of Glee. “I know, truly, I didn’t feel like it was my place, and I’m not sure why, since I was a cast member just like everyone else, and we all need to feel at ease on set.”

The claims against Michele – Lea Michele Controversy

Lea Michele Controversy: The claims against Michele, who portrayed Rachel Berry on Glee, were first made public in early June 2020. Samantha Marie Ware, who portrayed recurring character Jane Hayward in season six, criticized Michele on Twitter when she voiced indignation about the death of Minnesota man George Floyd by a police officer and used the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter.

“LMAO, DO YOU REMEMBER MAKING MY FIRST TELEVISION GIG A LIVING HELL? I’ll never forget because “Ware replied via Twitter. I think you said to everyone that you would “s—t in my wig” if you had the chance, among other traumatizing microaggressions that caused me to doubt a career in Hollywood.

Following Ware’s popular tweet, meal kit delivery service The collaboration between HelloFresh and Michele has concluded. Additionally, Ware pushed former Glee actors to criticize the actress, including Morris, who posted on Twitter, “To be clear, I would never wish for that hate to spread to anybody else since we are working to heal the sickness of hatred in America. Was she, then, a bad person to work with? Very much so; I think Lea SHOULD be called out for treating people with the disdain she did for such a long time.”

Morris went on, “But it’s also our fault because, as the rest of society is discovering, we allowed it to continue for so long without speaking up. Although I am unable to comment on her opinions, it is now assumed that she is racist. I believe this is presuming, and you know what happens when everyone assumes.”

Lea Michele Controversy: Morris stated on the Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino on Wednesday that she received backlash for making this claim about Michele. She recalled receiving criticism because “this is so f—king cryptic,” as in, “Why don’t you just go and say it?” on the show. Morris paused and said, “It’s real. I’m like, ‘Guys, she’s pregnant, and all this crap is going around, and. She said nothing further.

And, the actress said, “I don’t know whether maybe we were bullied, and that’s a normal victim thing to do, is to blame yourself, which is what people were saying. “However, it is also absolutely true, and Naya [Rivera] was the only one to be upfront about it. Additionally, it was a very private matter on site. And now you see all these things coming out with these bigger personalities who treated many people unfairly and with great contempt, and people did nothing to stop it.”

The late actress said

Lea Michele Controversy: The late actress said that Michele “blamed me for anything and everything that went wrong” on production and then “continued to ignore me, and finally it came to the point where she didn’t say a word to me for the entire season six” in her 2016 memoir Sorry Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes and Growing Up.

Morris stated on the podcast Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino: “At different times, we were all close to Lea and then we weren’t as close. As a result, there is a human aspect to it—understanding who this person is, developing along with that person, witnessing her strive to improve herself after Corey [Monteith] went away, and so on.”

In both real life and on-screen relationships with Michele, Monteith passed away in 2013 from a heroin and alcohol-related combined substance poisoning. He was 31. When Rivera appeared on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in 2019, a question concerning her previous connection with Michele was posed to her. “I don’t believe there was like, any beef,” she remarked.

Lea Michele Controversy: Less than two weeks after Morris and other former Glee performers posted their accusations against Michele, Rivera drowned in June at the age of 33. After she was reported missing after going boating with her kid, many of her admirers vented their frustrations on Twitter, which led the actress to deactivate her account days before her corpse was discovered.

I apologize for my actions and for any hurt I may have caused. “If it was my privileged position and viewpoint that caused me to be regarded as insensitive or inappropriate at times, or whether it was just my immaturity and me being needlessly tough,” she wrote. We can all change and grow, and I have taken advantage of the past few months to evaluate my shortcomings.

Additionally, Michele, who at the time was carrying her son and was in the third trimester, wrote, “In order to be a true role model for my child and to share my lessons and mistakes with them so they can learn from me, I know I must continue to work on improving myself and accepting responsibility for my actions. Although I am very sorry, I am learning from their comments and will be a better person moving forward. I listened to them.”

Lea Michele Controversy: Michele still communicates with at least a few of her former co-stars despite the controversy. Jonathan Groff, who portrayed her on-screen love interest Jesse St. James and co-starred with her in the Broadway production of Spring Awakening years before Glee began in 2010, is one of her best friends. And on May 27, she posted a picture of Darren Criss, who portrayed Blaine Anderson, cradling her 9-month-old son Ever on Instagram.
