The following day, Barry and Iris go back to work. At S.T.A.R. Labs, Chester P. Runk continues to watch Cecile Horton’s growing metahuman abilities and figure out what they mean. Allegra Garcia tells Iris that Cat Grant has made an excellent offer to buy Central City Citizen Media. However, Iris is still thinking about the future and figuring out what to do. Barry is being considered for a leadership role in the Central City Police Department, but the matter is put on hold when Barry races to stop the new Captain Boomerang from robbing a bank.
Boomerang gets away from the Flash thanks to some very cool technology. Barry’s speed lightning also messes with an experimental device on the scene, but Barry doesn’t notice the small change. Barry tells Iris about his recurring nightmares and decides to write about their future by giving Iris brief glimpses. Iris is worried and upset about this. Iris and Barry soon return on the same day, including the fight between Flash and Boomerang.

Before Barry and Iris wake up to live the same day again, Barry dies in his second fight with the supervillain. Team Flash figures out that the thing that Barry’s speed lightning affected is a portable particle accelerator when they realize they are stuck in a time loop.
Barry and Iris are stuck in the temporal loop because Barry and Chester repeatedly fail to stop the particle accelerator battery’s changed tachyons from going off. Barry thinks it’s because Iris keeps turning down Cat’s offer, but Iris is frustrated that Barry has a book that tells their whole future, and she’d rather stay in the dark to feel like she has some choice.

After Joe West and Cecile give them a pep talk, Barry and Iris spend the rest of the day together and do a much better job with everything, including the acquisition and promotion offers and another fight with Boomerang.
Boomerang knows he will lose, so he sets off a nuclear bomb he put in the particle accelerator and then teleports away with the accelerator’s battery, leaving Team Flash to deal with the problem. Barry uses his powers to stop the nuclear blast.
Chester and Allegra finally kiss after being so happy that they can do so. But while Barry gets to meet the new Caitlin Snow after Frost attempts to bring her back to life, Boomerang gives the battery to his unknown benefactor, a shadowy speedster with sinister red lightning who wants to stop the Flash for good.
